Best Sheet Cake for Valentine's Day

unicorn cake design

This Unicorn Rainbow Cake is perfect for birthdays, baby showers, or any special occasion. It’s made with 5 rainbow color layers of delicious, moist, vanilla cake and covered in pastel-color, buttercream frosting, decorated with sprinkles and candy pearls. The unicorn horn cake topper and cute eyes with eyelashes on the front complete this show-stopping unicorn cake character. This Unicorn Rainbow Cake is perfect for birthdays, baby showers, or any special occasion.

Step 6: Attach the Purple Ribbon and Unicorn Horn

You could, if you prefer, cut the extra rectangle of cake into a horn shape to use to decorate the unicorn sheet cake instead of making a modeling chocolate horn. Today, I'm going to show you how to make a white and pink unicorn cake using this easy technique. When you’ve finished your white frosting sections, simply add a little bit of pink food coloring to the bowl of frosting and continue like before. After you’ve mixed up your butter cream frosting and gathered your unicorn cake decorations it’s time to get to work.

Fun Ways to Celebrate St Patrick’s Day with Kids

Refrigerate the sprinkle-covered white chocolate unicorn for 10 minutes, or until firm to the touch. This tutorial is originally a guest post I created for SprinklePop’s blog. It’s too good not to re-share over here, because this Unicorn sprinkle blend is downright magical and plays such a big role in making this party cake a showstopper. The pans in the O’Neill Cake Pan Collection come in a variety of designs, sizes and themes.

Step 2: Mix Up a Buttercream Color Palette

Here are a few cake toppers you can easily use for any cake. Start by cutting out unicorn shapes from pre-rolled store bought pastry dough with a large cookie cutter. You’ll need two for each pop tart, one for the bottom and one for the top.

How to make this Simple Unicorn Cake Design

To make this cake even more colorful, sprinkle edible glitter over the cake. You can store leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer but do not store the cake in the fridge with the modeling chocolate decorations. The moisture from the refrigerator will make the modeling chocolate decorations moist and sticky. Cover and store this unicorn theme cake at room temperature for up to 3 days. Stick the rainbow mane into the back of the unicorn's head. Roll about an ounce of purple modeling chocolate into an 8-inch by ⅓-inch log.

Step 1: Bake the Cake

unicorn cake design

It's so fun to cut into the cake to reveal the rainbow cake hiding inside. Set the white modeling chocolate horn on a piece of paper towel. Also, leave room on the unicorn's head for a pink snout. Pipe pink frosting stars over the unicorn's legs to create the hooves. Pipe white frosting stars in rows over the top of the cake covering the unicorn's body.

Here are a few helpful hints for making the best unicorn theme cake. Scroll down to the recipe card for exact measurements and details. Also, attach the ear and the horn using a dab of frosting. Cover the entire surface of the horn with gold luster dust.

Unicorn Birthday Cake Ideas

Not because the elements are complex to recreate but because there are a lot of them, especially when it comes to the fondant unicorn. By now you’re already able to recreate most of the elements of this cake thanks to the tips from the previous designs. The biggest challenge in this cake is the fondant unicorn, which is a step harder than the previous one. If you’re looking for a simple unicorn cake inspiration this one is perfect for you. As you gain experience, it allows you to play more and more with the stability of the elements of your cake, just like the rainbow of this cake.

Once your cake layers have fully cooled, it’s time to assemble the cake!! Stack them, and apply a thick, fluffy layer of frosting between each layer. Then apply a crumb coat, and let the cake chill in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Use some of the remaining buttercream to add a second coat of frosting, and smooth with a cake bench.

Overall, this is a reliable place to order birthday cake for a crowd. Meanwhile, their signature Banana Chocolate Chip Cake makes you wonder why other bakeries don’t offer this as a standard flavor. They also do a mean Chocolate Guinness Cake with Irish Cream Buttercream, which is understandably a popular flavor combo for March birthdays around St. Patrick’s Day. And unlike some of the other boutique birthday cake makers in Los Angeles, they offer options to fit every budget.

I’m fairly certain that I asked for one just about every time I did the grocery shopping with my mom. Loria Stern does cake drop-offs within 100 miles of LA, but you need to order well in advance by emailing [email protected]. For more information or to scroll through the cake gallery, go here.

This easy DIY unicorn cake uses shortcuts from the store, a simple design, and creative decorating ideas. Divide the buttercream into a few separate bowls for color mixing. I ended up making five different colors for my palette. First, I used a mix of Americolor Electric Pink and Electric Purple to create a dark pink, then created a light pink by mixing that with white buttercream.

Carefully notch a small triangle out of the top of unicorn’s head and position your cake cone. When the cake has cooled some, cut it in the pattern shown above. To get a sense of the process required to recreate it, you can watch this quick tutorial. To recreate the other elements of the decor, remember you can use the tips scattered throughout this post.

It’s perfect for baby showers but can easily be customized for any unicorn party. This enchanted make is a simple sheet cake, cut into the perfect unicorn, ready to ice and decorate! The super handy video from Satin Ice shows you exactly how to cut and shape your unicorn. Decorate the top left and bottom right with balls in the same shades of white, pink, yellow, blue, and green.

Swirl the cake batters together in a heavily greased 9×13 pan with a spatula or knife. This cake is all about unicorn through and through. It would definitely be hit at any kind of unicorn-themed party. To recreate the falling buttercream mane, you can draw in the buttercream where you want it to stop to get a clean finish. I’ll admit I find buttercream way easier to work with than fondant, but it’s probably because I’ve had way more practice with it. Let me know in the comments if you’re team fondant or team buttercream.

Though it looks like a lot of work with the flowers, they were in fact quite easy and fun to make. Continue by adding another layer of purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red swirls. Then, finally, add a final layer of each rainbow-colored cake batter. These cut-apart cakes were popular years before shaped cake pans were available and the designs were easy enough for any home cook to recreate. After the batter is prepped, I divided the cake batter into two bowls and colored them with pink and purple food coloring.

Is Elon Musk living at a lakefront mansion in Austin?

elon musk house

Musk is residing in the tiny home in Boca Chica, Texas, where the SpaceX headquarters are located (via The Atlantic). The billionaire later clarified, however, that after the renovations and additions, the house is a little more than $50,000. "Now that I have made some improvements, I'm pretty sure it's worth $69k haha," he tweeted. Elon Musk has amassed so much wealth that it can be difficult to wrap your brain around. According CNBC, Musk is worth $185 billion — an amount so high Insider shared a graph of Musk's wealth in order to help visualize the sheer extent of it, and describes it by using the analogy of distance.

Elon Musk's house costs less than most Tesla models

Last month, the publication reported that a Tesla project that led to an internal review at the company could be a glass house for Musk. Earlier this year, the Journal reported that Musk was building a company town called "Snailbrook" in Texas and had plans to create a private compound for himself on the premises. In 2020, Musk announced that he was "selling almost all physical possessions. Will own no house." Weeks later, five of his homes were listed for sale on Zillow.

The company’s directors are asking shareholders to again approve the multibillion-dollar compensation plan and to move the company’s registration to Texas, from Delaware. Musk said it was half a mile away from SpaceX's South Texas rocket factory, which he can walk to. "My friends come and stay and they can't believe I'm staying in this house," he said. The first model of the construction technology startup is called “Casita,” but they’ve already created other designs to fit different families and meet individual needs. The pioneering Las Vegas-based company, co-founded by Galiano and his father, Paolo Tiramani, in 2017, manufactures compact homes that can be shipped anywhere. Musk, who turned 50 in June, revealed in a tweet that he is now living in a humble $50,000 home that he rents from SpaceX on its launch site in Boca Chica, Texas.

In November of 2021, the company said in a YouTube video that it had just built a Casita house for a “high-profile” and “top-secret” customer in Boca Chica. The house shown in the video had a poster of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on the door. In early 2020, Elon Musk made a resolution to “sell almost all physical possessions” so he could focus on making electric cars, building rockets and managing his other ventures.

Facing criticism that it is overly beholden to Elon Musk, Tesla’s board of directors said on Wednesday that it would essentially give him everything he wanted, including the biggest pay package in corporate history. Musk said on the podcast that his home "actually costs less than a Boxabl," referring to the tiny prefab homes made by a Las Vegas company. The company’s co-founder, Galiano Tiramani, could not confirm to The Post whether Musk was living in a Boxabl home, but gave The Post a peek inside a typical Boxabl residence. Elon Musk may be one of the world’s richest people, but he’s not living large.

The world's second richest man is living small.

She first joined Future Plc as a News Writer across their interiors titles, including Livingetc and Real Homes, before becoming H&G's News Editor in April 2022. Before joining Future, Megan worked as a News Explainer at The Telegraph, following her MA in International Journalism at the University of Leeds. During her BA in English Literature and Creative Writing, she gained writing experience in the US while studying in New York. Megan also focused on travel writing during her time living in Paris, where she produced content for a French travel site. She currently lives in London with her antique typewriter and an expansive collection of houseplants. Elon Musk may seem like an unlikely source of small room ideas, but his current home optimizes just that.

Musk and Howery didn’t respond to Forbes’ request for comment by the time of publication. Musk has also viewed mansions in Austin to buy, according to the Journal, which cited anonymous sources said to know about Musk’s living arrangements. If one has to build such large residence its obviously going to take huge amounts of concrete to build and one has to calculate the amount of concrete upfront using concrete calculator to make a right estimate of the budget.

Musk said that while Tesla’s HQ is moving, the company will continue to expand activities in California. He said the company plans to boost production at its Fremont facilities by 50 percent, and the company announced a new lease for a large office space in Palo Alto. His tunneling and infrastructure company, The Boring Co., has had a presence in the area since last year and purchased land in Bastrop County. His neurotechnology company, Neuralink, has had job postings in Austin in recent months.

Elon Musk's last remaining home, a 47-acre Bay Area estate, hits the market for $37.5 million

He’d been renting the property for a few years while living there with his sons. It included features like a movie theater, wine cellar, and two-story library. He flipped it for a profit when it sold to another billionaire in 2020 for $29 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. Musk has offloaded his Los Angeles real estate in the past year, often at slim profit margins—if any. He sold his first mansion, located on Chalon Road, for $29 million in June 2020; he had purchased it for $17 million in 2012. The 50-year-old mogul first announced plans to sell all of his homes and most of his possessions last year, in response to criticism of his massive wealth.

🚨 Get viral graphics, memes, rumors and trending sports news delivered right to your inbox with the Clutch Newsletter. Now, let's dive into the details about the home he does live in, as seen in the photo above (and the pictures below). The 1916 mansion sits on 47 acres, complete with a pool, hiking trails, canyons, and a reservoir, according to the Zillow listing. According to Forbes, Tesla doesn't disclose its overall greenhouse-gas emissions, while General Motors and Ford do. This lack of disclosure doesn't necessarily mean Tesla isn't as green as the company would have you believe, but it does beg the question as to why the company won't reveal what its carbon emissions are. When a man who can buy any house in the world chooses to rent (without mincing words) a box that costs less than your average manufactured (mobile) home – which is around $88,000 in case you're interested – there must be a reason.

Musk has now nearly made good on his promise to do so, selling six of his seven properties. In a Monday tweet, Musk announced the sale and called the Bay Area property a "special place" that he wants to sell to a large family. The property in question — a massive, century-old estate just south of San Francisco — popped up on Zillow around the same time. But those barriers have come crashing down - and now it’s possible to build REAL wealth through real estate at a fraction of what it used to cost, meaning the unfair advantages are now available to individuals like you.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has sold his Hillsborough mansion listed for $31.99 million, reports Realtor.com. The home is within walking distance of the facility where SpaceX is working on building "a giant rocket," Musk added. He noted that he also has a Boxable tiny home in Boca Chica, which he uses as a guest house for friends who come to visit. According to Travis Central Appraisal District property records, the owner of the mansion is Edge Trust U/A/D, and it was valued at $12.6 million last year.

Citing unnamed sources, the newspaper reported that Musk has been staying in the waterfront estate of fellow billionaire Ken Howery. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, the billionaire has been living for much of the past year in a mansion on Lake Austin owned by a longtime friend and also has been shopping for one of his own in the Austin area. Musk’s kitchen as shown in Isaacson’s photo looks very similar to the standard kitchen in Boxabl’s 2021 YouTube video. But according to the author, Musk lives in a two-bedroom house rather than a studio. By 2020, rumor had it that Musk was living in Austin, Texas, in a lake house owned by one of his friends. Although he mentioned in a Tesla shareholders meeting that he was staying there, Musk later clarified with Business Insider that he wasn’t living there and was searching elsewhere in Texas for permanent housing.

Protein design Nature Biotechnology

protein design

Despite this progress, a general deep-learning framework for protein design that enables solution of a wide range of design challenges, including de novo binder design and design of higher-order symmetric architectures, has yet to be described. Diffusion models10,11 have had considerable success in image and language generative modelling but limited success when applied to protein modelling, probably due to the complexity of protein backbone geometry and sequence–structure relationships. We demonstrate the power and generality of the method, called RoseTTAFold diffusion (RFdiffusion), by experimentally characterizing the structures and functions of hundreds of designed symmetric assemblies, metal-binding proteins and protein binders. The accuracy of RFdiffusion is confirmed by the cryogenic electron microscopy structure of a designed binder in complex with influenza haemagglutinin that is nearly identical to the design model.

A new computer process developed by chemists at ETH Zurich makes it possible to generate active pharmaceutical ingredients quickly and easily based on a protein's three-dimensional surface. In North America, the protein design and engineering market is likely to register a significant revenue share and develop at a rapid CAGR over the forecast period because chronic disease rates are rising and protein-containing medications are being used more often than non-protein-containing ones. Bioactive PeptidesChemically synthesized molecules with predictable structures and functions. As the field of protein design continues to evolve, the collaboration between these disciplines will remain crucial in realizing its full potential. Your body contains trillions of individual protein molecules that together perform the vital functions of life. In total, your DNA contains the blueprints for crafting about 20,000 unique types of protein – a collection known as a genome. One major aim is to not only discover new therapeutic proteins but to shorten their clinical development through “quality by design,” said Stuart.

For each combination of force field and water model, χ2 quantifies the agreement between simulation and experiment based on the 524 parameters, indicated by the color of the square. A smaller value of χ2 (darker blue) indicates a greater agreement between prediction and experiment. Note the differences between the different force fields with the same water models, and between different water models with the same force field. Reprinted with permission from Beauchamp, K. A.; Lin, Y. S.; Das, R.; Pande, V. S. Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation 2012, 8, 1409–1414. In rational protein design, proteins can be redesigned from the sequence and structure of a known protein, or completely from scratch in de novo protein design. In protein redesign, most of the residues in the sequence are maintained as their wild-type amino-acid while a few are allowed to mutate.

Opportunities and challenges in design and optimization of protein function

An alternative approach to physics-based energy terms is using statistics from known structures to derive potential functions (114). The first version of the scoring function in the Rosetta program for structural modeling, and the design was developed for protein structure prediction (115) and was a statistical potential function derived from structures in the PDB (16, 116) using Bayesian statistics (35). To adapt Rosetta for the protein design, all-atom detail and physics-based terms were incorporated (33, 38), which in turn led to considerable advances in both protein structure prediction and protein design (82, 117).

Protein scoring functions by machine learning methods

We next investigated the use of RFdiffusion for scaffolding protein structural motifs that carry out binding and catalytic functions, in which the role of the scaffold is to hold the motif in precisely the 3D geometry needed for optimal function. In RFdiffusion, we input motifs as 3D coordinates (including sequence and sidechains) both during conditional training and inference, and build scaffolds that hold the motif atomic coordinates in place. Many deep-learning methods have been developed recently to address this problem, including RFjoint Inpainting4, constrained Hallucination4 and other DDPMs5,8,29.

protein design

Design of Monomeric Water-Soluble β-Hairpin and β-Sheet Peptides

“In three rounds of iteration, we were able to go from complete disappearance of the protein after four weeks to retention of effectively 95% activity,” he says. Helical bundles were the first type of protein fold designed de novo at atomic accuracy (22, 57). Owing to their regularity, backbone structures of coiled-coil helical bundles can be sampled near exhaustively by Crick’s parameterization (21). The availability of a method to systematically sample helical bundle backbones and the high stability (58) of the fold make helical bundles a good model system for designing a broad scope of functions such as ligand binding (25), ion transport (24), and switches (15). More details on recent progress of the coiled-coil design can be found in a review by Woolfson (59). RFdiffusion solves 23 of the 25 benchmark problems, compared to 15 for Hallucination and 19 for RFjoint Inpainting (Fig. 4a,b).

Computational scoring and experimental evaluation of enzymes generated by neural networks

Similar to the ligand binding–site design, designing protein binders to target proteins requires high accuracy scoring and sampling. A workaround to these challenges is using binding motifs from known protein–protein interfaces. Proteins that bind to influenza hemagglutinin and botulinum neurotoxin B (3) were designed by building known helical motifs that bind to the intended targets onto de novo designed small protein scaffolds (64).

The coordinates are then transformed into constraints for the Rosetta FunFolDes (73) method to build all-atom models. RF has recently been extended to nucleic acids and protein–nucleic acid complexes55, which should enable RFdiffusion to design nucleic acid binding proteins and perhaps folded RNA structures. Extension of RF to incorporate ligands should similarly enable extension of RFdiffusion to explicitly model ligand atoms, and allow the design of protein–ligand interactions. Several important design challenges involve the scaffolding of several copies of a functional motif in symmetric arrangements.

“Folded” refers to designs that were characterized by CD and/or NMR spectroscopy or had an experimentally determined structure, displayed the expected oligomerization state (if measured), and/or were functional (if designed to have a function). Several design studies have addressed the problem of the protein–protein interface design where both sides of each interface are designed, leading to protein assembly (Fig. 5C). Homo-oligomers with cyclic symmetries were designed by systematic enumeration of arrangements of the monomers followed by the interface design (139).

From Hecht, M. H.; Richardson, J. S.; Richardson, D. C.; Ogden, R. C. Science 1990, 249, 884–891. The problem of minimizing ET is an NP-hard problem.[14][20][21] Even though the class of problems is NP-hard, in practice many instances of protein design can be solved exactly or optimized satisfactorily through heuristic methods. As we continue to unlock the secrets of proteins and learn to harness their potential, the possibilities for protein design are virtually limitless. Protein design, with its interdisciplinary nature and wide-ranging applications, is poised to reshape the future of synthetic biology.

Scientists are now rapidly moving toward a future in which they can apply careful computational analysis to infer the underlying principles governing the structure and function of real-world proteins and apply them to construct bespoke proteins with functions devised by the user. Lucas Nivon, CEO and cofounder of Cyrus Biotechnology, believes the ultimate impact of such in silico-designed proteins will be massive and compares the field to the fledgling biotech industry of the 1980s. “I think in 30 years 30, 40 or 50% of drugs will be computationally designed proteins,” he says. In the dark state, the peptide ligand is partially in a helical conformation, and binding to ePDZ is blocked.

The first new alpha-beta protein, with a fold not previously observed in nature, was assembled from fragments from the PDB (33). Subsequent careful analyses of natural protein architectures led to the design of different alpha-beta proteins (30), including a symmetrical artificial TIM barrel (34), and all-beta proteins (29, 31). The “de novo” protein design describes the generation of new proteins with sequences unrelated to those in nature based on physical principles of intramolecular and intermolecular interactions (1). Although most current contributions to the de novo design focus on new structures, efforts in the field are increasingly directed toward designing new biological functions and their applications (1, 2). Exciting recently designed functions include inhibitors of viral infections (3, 4), immune system modulators (5, 6), self-assembling biomaterials (7, 8, 9), sense-and-respond signaling systems (10, 11, 12, 13), and protein logic gates (14, 15).

After the ETH researchers had produced these molecules in the lab, colleagues at Roche subjected them to a variety of tests. These showed that the new substances are indeed stable and non-toxic right from the start. Together with researchers from the pharmaceutical company Roche and other cooperation partners, the ETH team tested the new process and demonstrated what it is capable of. The scientists searched for molecules that interact with proteins in the PPAR class -- proteins that regulate sugar and fatty acid metabolism in the body.

After four hours of wanting us to laugh at Liddy, the show is like, “You know he’s evil, right? ” as if viewers were to blame for not fixating on the darkness earlier. After four hours of treating Hunt as a puffed-up blowhard, the show is like, “His hubris is heartbreaking,” as if viewers were responsible for him choosing country over family.

Attempt number two saw them get into the Watergate, but unable to get into the DNC because their locksmith did not have the right tools. The third attempt, however, saw a successful break-in, but there was just one problem — the bugs they planted did not work. So, despite initial protests from Hunt, they decide to break in for a fourth time. By the end of White House Plumbers, I’d begun to look forward, trying to figure out who the next Watergate series should be built around. The answer, if anybody is curious, is the small cadre of Cubans arrested in the break-in. Find a Cuban-American writer with an interest in understanding their story and find some angle better than “bumbling buffoons.” I’m all set there.

President Jimmy Carter commuted Liddy’s sentence to only eight years in April 1977, making him eligible for parole. However, this was the fateful time they would be caught. The five burglars arrested were McCord, Sturgis, Barker, Gonzales and Martinez, while Hunt and Liddy were at the "command center" and able to escape without being caught. A part of Howard starts to realize that his career has become unsalvageable, and he begins to focus more on his family. His second daughter, Kevan, by far Howard’s favorite child, comes for a visit. Kevan is an exceptional student and a model daughter in her father’s eyes.

According to his Washington Post obituary, Liddy wrote that he enjoyed antagonizing wardens and incarcerated gang members while in prison. He even sang a Nazi anthem in response to racial epithets from Black prisoners. “I don’t believe there was a man there who understood one word of what I sang. According to The Washington Post, Liddy was sentenced in March 1973 to 20 years in federal prison for conspiracy, burglary, and illegal wire-tapping related to Watergate.

White House Plumbers fact vs fiction episode guide

He tells his family he will join them on their trip to Paris, when everyone involved, including you and me and Dororthy, knows he will ultimately cancel because of work. The B team, which has the Democratic National Committee headquarters in its crosshairs, is a leaner yet somehow less nimble operation. Howard and Villo never make it up to the office. A security guard unwittingly locks them inside a banquet room elsewhere in the Watergate complex, and they spend the night hiding in an alcohol cupboard pissing into half-empty whiskey bottles. From here on, McGovern’s team hires a 24-hour security detail, which cuts Opal’s immediate target list in half.

Nixon’s approval rating is already hovering above 60 percent. Still, Dorothy Hunt is the only character to question whether the risks of espionage may outweigh the rewards for a Republican Party that seems poised to take the election in a landslide. In our research, we were only able to confirm three Watergate break-in attempts by the plumbers. Most documents acknowledge two, while a CNN story said that there were at least three. In the opening moments of White House Plumbers, we are told that there were four break-in attempts of the DNC at the Watergate. We see all four of those attempts in this episode.

Almost predictably, it has caused some contention between her and St. John and Lisa. Her father doesn’t help the matter by openly praising her in front of the other two and criticizing them. The struggle for tonal traction is the main challenge to HBO’s upcoming five-part series White House Plumbers, written by Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck and directed by David Mandel. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), Gregory and Huyck have given themselves possibly the toughest point-of-entry figures in this entire saga.

And sometimes, just sometimes, you have to let your girl play a proper noun. But Howard, it seems, is only willing to compromise his strict code of ethics when it comes to electoral politics. And so the warm scene of family togetherness ends with Lisa upending the board and screaming. And they come up with a playbook so simple that it actually works. No, they don’t kill Dita (though Hunt would later attest that Liddy was “forever volunteering to rub people out”).

Liddy’s mom pays his bail, a detail so bizarre it must be true. A further disgraced Howard tells Bittman to put more pressure on the White House, to remind them that he could still disclose the truth of the Ellsberg break-in and, in the series’ most long-running innuendo, Kennedy’s assassination, too. Howard refuses to make a deal to avoid prison, preferring instead to take the fall and pray for an eventual pardon. Dorothy can’t make him cough up the names of the president’s inner circle, but she’s the one to remind the White House that the kind of loyalty Howard’s offering doesn’t come cheap. As a plan, it’s only marginally worse than what Howard cooks up.

And for the sake of conversation, McCord offers up under absolutely zero duress that these days he’s collecting a paycheck from the Committee to Reelect the Prez. On the other hand, Liddy is exquisitely deranged and/or frighteningly equanimous when he clicks on a bedroom lamp and lets Fran know he may soon be heading to prison. The next morning, he tracks down acting AG Richard Kleindienst — by this point, John Mitchell’s resigned to focus on Nixon’s reelection — and pressures him to somehow spring McCord, who is arrested carrying a fake ID, from lockup. Alas, it’s already too late to avoid an association between the Watergate arrests and the White House. This five-episode limited series tells the story of how President Richard Nixon's own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), accidentally toppled the presidency.

Howard and Dorothy’s daughter, Lisa, was in a car accident a few years ago and continues to suffer from PTSD. She wants to quit college, but her dad won’t let her. Meanwhile, the couple’s younger sons are disconcertingly adept at managing and avoiding the conflict in their house.

Attach the other end to the same side piece in the same manner. Now attach the other side with glue and screws to complete the 2×3 frame. From the center of the top edge of the board, mark a point 9 inches down and 12 inches from each side. With your compass set for 3 inches, draw a circle around this center point.

STEP 5: Mark out the cornhole board holes.

Mark 8″ up from the bottom of the longer end of your leg and then mark 1/2″ in. Drill halfway through the leg using a 3/8″ drill bit. In addition to the section on the top of the cornhole boards, we also stained the dowel that will be used for scorekeeping. The great thing about these DIY cornhole boards is that you can add as many or as few of the features as you wish.

How to Make and Use Wood Butter

Drill a hole with a drill bit inside this circle close to the line so you can insert the jigsaw blade. For a DIY cornhole board to work, one end of the board needs to be elevated with legs that are 12 inches long. Measure and cut the legs to length using a circular saw.

Attach them to the longer pieces with 2 ½" pocket hole screws. Make sure your corners are square so the plywood board lines up properly with the frame. Use a ⅜-inch drill bit to drill a hole inside the circle, about ½-inch from the line. Then, insert the jigsaw, and cut along the guideline to create the hole.

Hook the tape measure on the end of the board (one of the short sides), and make a pencil mark on the face of the plywood at 9 inches. Then, hook the tape on one of the long sides of the board, and make a pencil mark on the plywood at 12 inches. Align these two marks to find the center of the hole that the beanbags will fall into. With the frame laid out, it’s time to attach the individual boards to each other. For this step, grab a drill and a ⅛-inch drill bit.

So if you need an inexpensive way to entertain at your next get together, then you might want to consider this cornhole set. But in my opinion, the ‘flash’ is all part of cornhole.

All material and images on this site are copyright of A Wonderful Thought, unless otherwise noted. We have seen a multitude of paint jobs out there to finish the boards. Some of the paint jobs we have used we have borrowed and others are completely original. Even if you don’t want to paint them I would still suggest to put a finish on your boards somehow.

Younger kids might need to take a break when the jigsaw comes out—it’s loud and too dangerous for little hands. But with your supervision, tweens and teens will be able to learn some basic woodworking skills. Cornhole isn’t just fun game to play with the family; it’s also fun to spend time building a DIY cornhole set together.

Heres What Happened to G Gordon Liddy After Watergate

white house plumbers episodes

I already get that Liddy’s an idiot, but all of a sudden, there is confusion about what kind of idiot he is. Gordon Liddy, an attorney and former FBI agent who was assigned to the White House Special Investigations unit known as 'The White House Plumbers'. Woody Harrelson plays his colleague, retired CIA officer E. Howard Hunt who along with Liddy organized the Watergate burglary. It’s a bad sign when a show routinely litters the screen with expository information like dates and locations, people’s names and job titles. Used sparingly, chyrons like these billboard details of critical importance.

The real G. Gordon Liddy and E. Howard Hunt

I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too. White House Plumbers is based partly on public records and the book Integrity by Egil ‘Bud’ Krogh and Matthew Krogh. The show follows the two political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds E. It delves into their backstories and shows how they came to be behind the 1972 burglary of the Democratic National Committee HQ that was eventually traced back to President Nixon’s administration. It shows how the pair accidentally brought down the very presidency they had been trying to protect.

Lifestyle

And then, of course, Howard meets Gordon, an eccentric ex-FBI agent, who will be his partner in crime. None of these men are individual characters at this point — just blowhards with a collective distaste for commies. And they all think they’re the one in charge of a special project to discredit Daniel Ellsberg, the military analyst who released a classified Pentagon investigation into the Vietnam War to the press. Gary Cole plays G-man Mark Felt, the only guy we meet who has no interest in helping the plumbers (and who, decades later, will be revealed to be “Deep Throat” in Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein’s reporting). Fact vs Fiction: White House Plumbers episode 3 — how many times did the plumbers break into the Watergate?

At one point, Dot tells Howie that they need to have a “serious talk,” but we can’t be sure what it’s about because it never happens. The closest they come to intimacy is bad sex, which Howard initiates after a flight attendant slips him her number on the flight back from Beverly Hills. Howard doesn’t finish until Dorothy agrees to call him Edward in bed, the code name he was using on his successful/unsuccessful L.A. Big-sky thinkers Howard and Gordon concoct a scheme to break in to Ellsberg’s psychiatrist’s office to see if maybe he confessed his Russian allegiances to his shrink. But they spend more time bickering about whether to call the mission “a black-bag op” or just a “black op” than they do planning the top-secret scheme. White House Plumbers is the story of two unexceptional men finding friendship and failing up.

Perhaps there’s no force big enough to stop it at all. Gordon LiddyJustin takes on the role of former FBI agent G. Gordon Liddy who was tasked with preventing leaks of classified information to the media.

Even though 50 years have passed since the incident, Watergate Scandal continues to fascinate people. It has regained prominence in recent years after successive administrations faced scrutiny. Perhaps what really intrigues people about Watergate is not the nature of the crime but how idiotic all of it seems in hindsight, and it appears that’s what the creators of the HBO series ‘White House Plumbers’ want to convey.

white house plumbers episodes

Hunt, Liddy, and the Cubans break into the DNC offices at the Watergate. It’s probably just as well that Howard won’t be at home much in the next few months. Redeemed by what he did with Dita in Denver, his and Liddy’s Project Gemstone is approved. There will be no yachtful of sex workers in international waters.

White House Plumbers Recap: The Watergate Crash

“I played only villains, and that way, as [my wife Frances] says, I don’t have to act. I just go there and play myself,” he told Playboy in 1995. The final time the Plumbers head into the Watergate, we know it will be the last. It has that special “one last job” energy to it.

Both failed because the McGovern team's contact abandoned them and the DNC team got locked in the banquet hall. In real life, the crash was attributed to pilot error. But there were enough people to suspect foul play that the tragedy came to be known by some as “The Watergate Crash,” which is the conspiracy theory that White House Plumbers is flirting with. With only one episode left, I confess I’m less sure than ever what this show is trying to say about this black moment in U.S. history. The series started as a darkly comic story of two bumbling men who toppled an extraordinarily popular presidency by accident, but what is it now?

On the third attempt — attempt No. 2.1 if you’re feeling generous — Villo brings the right tools to handle a double-sided deadbolt, and the saboteurs make it through the doors. Unfortunately, most of the bugs are inoperative — McCord’s not-so-handy work — and the files turn up bupkes. US viewers can stream all episodes of White House Plumbers on Max. In the UK, new episodes of the series premiere Tuesdays on Sky Atlantic.

For retaliation for Gordon’s refusal — not to mention his callous willingness to embarrass Dorothy by implying Howard’s roving eye — Dorothy discloses that the money she’s been bringing over has come directly from the Hunt family coffers. Needless to say, the quartet never makes it past the salad course. The more secure the president’s reelection becomes, even in the face of the blossoming Watergate scandal, the less generous the cash hose flows. Dorothy is angry and astonished, but McCord sees Nixon and his men for what they are. They’re motivated by “fear and power,” he explains, suddenly far more astute than he’s ever been before. “Mainly the fear of losing power.” Now that they’re no longer afraid of that, there’s no reason to pay up.

A series of medically unexplainable attacks can buy Mitchell time, but they can’t solve the problem. One day, Dita will be called to answer for her incriminating memo. On White House Plumbers, though, chyrons are used constantly, even redundantly. For example, I can already tell James McCord is the tyrannical yet inept “head of security” at CREEP because he’s literally standing at the well-labeled office entrance demanding to see the IDs of men he should know on sight.

And anyway, the main issue of the Watergate Scandal is not the break-in itself but the steps that the Nixon administration took to prevent the press and the public from knowing about it. The scandal unfolded like a comedy of errors, leading to Nixon’s resignation in 1974. Liddy and Howard learn about the presence of three hippies on the DNC floor from Baldwin. Their initial confusion turns into horror when the hippies pull out guns, making Liddy and Howard realize that these people are plain-clothes police officers. They hastily start packing things up, knowing that one of their arrested accomplices has keys to the room.

The third attempt was to correct the bugs and was when they were ultimately caught. As the episode ends, one of the police officers nails the envelope on the wall with a dart, right beside a photo of Nixon, which the DNC staff members have been using for target practice. This is not particularly a subtle way to denote what will happen next, but it gets the point across. Nixon went on to win the 1972 US Presidential Election, denoting that there was little need for espionage tactics.

It sold to a Chicago-based investment firm for well under the asking price in 2021 after being on the market for years. With picturesque rolling hills and awe-inspiring mountains, it’s no wonder this Montana ranch was the backdrop of the 1992 film A River Runs Through It. The owners died in the past decade, and their children sold it for a cool $136 million to an undisclosed buyer. It has numerous staff houses for ranch hands as well as a massive herd of 2,000 Angus cattle.

Taking ten years to develop, The One is built on a five-acre plot that cost $28 million. One of the most unique homes on the market is the four-story mega-mansion located in Bel Air, California. This modern home has an estimated retail price of $250 million because of the numerous over-the-top features and amenities.

However, in 2021 the house was listed on the market for $110 million but was later increased to $125 million when a suitable buyer was not found. With this new price tag, the estate that sits on three acres of land has become one of the most expensive mansions in California to date. This house is so expensive because it is set on nine acres of prime real estate and it has its own access street. The gated 20,000-square-foot compound has a 30-car courtyard, 20 bedrooms, and 23 bathrooms. There are 38,000 square feet of interior space and a massive 17,000 square-foot outdoor deck.

The top half ranks the most expensive homes in Los Angeles ever sold, by sales price. The bottom half ranks Los Angeles’ priciest homes that are currently for sale. Williams said he has two offers on the table — one from a Saudi royal and one from a wealthy Chinese buyer. He said more offers are expected soon from crypto buyers who are "looking at this house as their own space station." People involved in the court process said "The One" would have to sell for around $200 million just to pay back the debt, including the auction fees and other costs.

12 bedrooms and 25 bathrooms, and a Turkish spa are just the start here; the luxury mansion also boasts a 15,000-square foot entertainment center, a bowling alley, a 50-seat movie theater, a disco, and even its own hillside vineyard. Just a few weeks after an Aspen ranch sold for $77 million, earning the accolade as Colorado’s most expensive home ever purchased, another transaction has swooped in to steal the title. The buyers, billionaires Steve Wynn, a real estate developer and art collector, and Thomas Peterffy, a financier and founder of Interactive Brokers, bought the home together. The deal just closed, Robb Report shares, with the pair paying $108 million for the residence. An average home price of $1.13 million makes buying a house in Washington, D.C. Comprehensive housing-related costs, including rents, mortgages and insurance, are a burdensome 2.3 times the national average, according to C2ER.

And what “the One” offers in true, mind-blowing abundance are some of the most luxurious, over-the-top amenities ever created in a private residence. Like the 42 bathrooms and 21 bedrooms, one of which is the 5,000-square-foot master suite with massive walk-in closets, adjoining two-story office and private pool. Above it is the 10,000-square-foot party-central skydeck with its own putting green.

"Elevated, protected and privately positioned, Field Point offers the ultimate in luxury lifestyle." Please note, these prices are subject to change and are listed correct as of Thursday, August 5, 2021. The aesthetic updates as well as the installation of new heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems costs tens of millions of dollars, the Winnicks told WSJ. Presumably, the cost of the renovations would be more than recouped should the Winnicks secure an offer around their asking price for the mansion. After Murdock acquired the property from the Hilton estate, he sold off all the home’s original furniture. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, and the Winnicks felt it was worthwhile to track down a number of the items to return them to their rightful place at Casa Encantada.

In recent years, other affluent people have dropped dozens of millions of dollars on units in the building. The names include Ken Griffin, a hedge fund manager, and Sting, the legendary rock musician. Ten years in the making, “the One” was the dream of Hollywood film producer turned mega-mansion developer, Nile Niami.

Total housing costs, including rents, mortgages and related expenses, are more than three times the national average, too. In fact, the average home price for all of Orange County sits at over $1.38 million according to C2ER. That makes it the fifth priciest market in the country — and easily one of the most expensive housing markets in the U.S. Home prices — and overall housing costs — are the main culprits when it comes to L.A.'s comparative lack of affordability.
